Overall, Deadly Illusions is a fun and entertaining novel that will leave the reader eagerly waiting for the next installment to see how the characters’ relationships progress. Though not particularly thought-provoking, the mystery subplot is interesting and fast-paced, and it provides the perfect foil to set up the interactions between the characters. However, the driving force behind this and the other novels in the series, namely the character relationships, is well-done and will definitely hold the reader’s attention. From its title, Sunflower Sisters by Martha Hall Kelly sounds like it could be happy-smiley-giggly “women’s fiction,” doesn’t it? Perhaps a lot of fashion, romance and swooning? Nope. The title itself sounds really interesting, af. I was scouting Amazon for some fun reads when I came across this novelette. Review 2: I've read the first book of Stephanie Dray's The Nile Series: Lily of the Nile which was an amazing book that really sparked my interest in Egyptian history. And I'm not sure I bought it, which is a crucial point for the plot. But this story, which is quite fascinating, still seemed to move a bit too fast-even in a short format, you have to buy that a love has developed when a character announces it. As a less-than-novel, it is to be assumed that the coverage will not be in-depth and that the extent of characterization and plot lesser than a novel. Review 1: This is a novella ("novelette," according to the first pages) of Arisoe II's life. According to Anarcho-Syndicalist thought, this is the only thing that the State CAN do revolutions will only change the faces of the elites. One of the foundational supports of that structure is the belief that 'The State', in whatever form it takes, whether democratic or proletarian dictatorship, is simply an organism designed to support and further entrench the current ruling class. There is, however, a structure behind Anarcho-Syndicalism-this was surprising to me I had long believed that Anarchy implied no structure at all. I saw 'Anarcho-Syndicalism' and thought it synonymous with 'Crack-pot'. (a la The Sex Pistols or The Ayatollah of Rock-n-rolla). My own impression of anything associated with anarchy has, up to this point, been completely negative and that it is confined to radical fringe groups bent on destruction or hedonistic chaos. There are several elements to Rudolph Rocker's energetic and highly readable biography of the Anarcho-Syndicalist movement that bear consideration by those who would might initially think the subject had no relevence for them.
